Large states obviously have more people and more legal issues as compared to small states. Therefore, lawyers practicing in large states have the prospective to make a lot of cash and vice versa.

In addition, lawyers that have large practices also make more money as compared to those that are practicing in small firms. The bigger the practice, the more attractive it is to clients, since they will assume that the practice only takes on the best lawyers. Therefore, a lawyer who works in a big law firm is likely to earn more than the one who works in a small law firm.

It should be noted that law has different fields of practice. The salary of a lawyer might, therefore, also depend on their special field of practice. Some fields of practice like corporate law have the potential of earning you a lot of money, as compared to others. Therefore, different lawyers in different fields earn different incomes.

All in all, it should be noted that law is a good profession and people in it have the potential of making a lot of money. Though there is no definite figure as to how much a lawyer is supposed to make, research has established that, on average, a lawyer in the United States makes about 62,000 dollars per year. This figure might go up or down depending on the above listed factors.
